Never Put Off Until Tomorrow What You Can Do Today

Tomorrow isn’t promised right? I’ve tried to focus on living that way but have been a little side tracked. It’s funny how the day to day work life can impede the life we actually enjoy living. My job recently changed and I went from working 5 hour shifts to 8+ hour shifts. I am honestly not a fan of the time I have to commit away from home/the things I love, but I do love the increase in my income. It has come with new freedoms and also new difficulties. My gym life has definitely dwindled, part of that was because I tweaked my back in June. I’ve definitely been allowing myself to be lazy by justifying that I walk over 12,000 steps at work. I get off work and don’t feel like doing the things I enjoy, like creative endeavors or even getting out in nature.

This weekend was a good reminder for me to quit being a lazy b*tch because you’re missing out on actually rewarding things.

Last year before I moved to Wyoming, I visited and in an effort to break in my boots we went hiking on Heart Mountain. My feet were feeling mangled beyond repair before making it to the top and I didn’t want to push them further than that. #fail That mountain has been taunting us ever since. In case you’re wondering it’s visible from the front yard, and pretty much every place I drive to regularly. The trip is 7.7 miles with 2,447 ft of elevation gain. Oof!

With hunting season starting soon, it was kind of a go now, or don’t go situation. I couldn’t let it defeat me. So the key here, I made the plan to go, and it happened. That’s really the crux of the issue of putting things off. It’s easy to get off work, get into your cozies, and chill. Making the plan, even if you’re tired, or hung over, usually makes the thing happen anyway. Some other things I’ve been putting off recently… Visiting the Cody Museum, visiting the Heart Mountain Center, taking my art to the gallery to sell, organize my closets, there are probably more things that aren’t coming to my mind… I’m intending to do those things in the next couple of weeks. And yes, putting them on the calendar will help make them happen!

Hello Snails!

One of the things I love about getting out and doing, is the endless possibility to learn new things. I’ve spent a lot of time in nature. I’ve seen snail shells in some of the weirdest places. Like here for instance, it seems too dry for them. Well, it’s not. Who knew. Another fun thing I learned, they use their rasp like tongues to eat the calcium carbonate in limestone to help build their shells.

Heart Mountain Done!

This adventure was hard on more levels than one, and I am glad to have it completed. I fully intend to add a tattoo of the topographical map of this mountain because the view of this mountain is so different from each side. I love it!
